Material in the Tales of Wysardry section of the site is of mixed origin and falls into
three main copyright categories:-
- Copyright by Wysardry
- Copyright by third parties
- Public domain material
Unless specifically stated on that page, the content of any particular page should be assumed to
be in the first category.
An explanation of each category follows:-
Copyright by Wysardry
Pages containing the standard copyright message only, are original material created by Wysardry
(Mark S Smith) and should not be distributed in any form without prior written
permission.
If you wish to seek permission to use such material, details can be found on the Contact page.
Copyright by third parties
Pages containing an additional copyright message giving credit to a third party also contain
material that is copyrighted by that party.
Permission has been given for this use only. It should not be construed as conferring any
license or right for copying or distribution.
If you wish to seek permission to use such material, you will have to contact the individual or
corporation concerned.
Public domain material
Any material marked with the message "This text is in the public domain" is believed to be no
longer protected by copyright in the USA or Europe.
Copyright laws are changing all over the world however, and it is possible that what was
considered to be public domain material at the time of uploading, may be protected at the time you
view the page.
Please check copyright laws for your own country before distributing any material in this
category. Wherever possible, we will state the years of birth and death on the main index
page for each author.
If there is no restriction on distribution in your country, then we have no objection to you
doing so. We would appreciate some credit for converting the material to HTML, but it is not
compulsory.
Please note that supporting pages and materials for public domain texts may not necessarily be
public domain also.
Currently, the only way to copy the public domain part of our pages is to look at the source of
each individual page containing public domain text and copy the content between the
<!-- Main content below -->
and
<!-- Main content above -->
tags.
We realise that this is a long process and our plans do include making the public domain
material available to download for other uses.
